The Friends of the Eastern California Museum will host its annual deep-pit beef barbeque and party on Saturday, May 6, starting at 4 p.m., at the museum in Independence. The public is cordially invited to enjoy the afternoon of good food, in the form of deep-pit beef, beans, salads and drinks (a vegetarian meal is available), good music provided by Sandy and the High Country, and historic family fun. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for youngsters and seniors. The annual FECM Fundraiser will be held at the Eastern California Museum, 155 N. Grant St., in Independence. The City of Bishop will be hosting a community workshop on May 3rd at 6:30 pm at the Home Economics Building at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. The workshop will focus on gathering public input and ideas for revitalizing downtown Bishop, increasing housing options, and streamlining the Municipal Code to incentivize commercial activity.
