CALTRANS TO BEGIN CHIP SEAL PROJECT ON US 395 IN INYO COUNTY
Bishop – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a highway resurfacing project at two locations on US 395 in Inyo County. The first location is near Dunmovin from 1.1 miles south of Cinder Road to 0.8 mile south of Haiwee Powerhouse Rd. and the second is near Big Pine from the south junction of State Route 168 to 0.1 mile south of Warm Springs Road.
The project consists of chip sealing to extend the life of the pavement and restriping. Construction will be on the southbound lanes only.
Work is scheduled to begin July 10, 2017, and should be completed by the end of August 2017.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane though the construction area with a posted speed limit of 35 mph during working hours. Crews will be on site Monday throughThursday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The traveling public should not experience any traffic delays.
This $1.9 million project has been awarded to American Pavement Systems, Inc. of Modesto, CA.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.

Friday’s Wine Walk takes place at the Village at Mammoth and features wine tastings from more than 15 wineries, palate cleansers, and a commemorative wine glass for guests to take home. New this year, Saturday’s Grand Tasting takes place at Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa and includes wine tastings from more than 20 wineries, tasty bites from local Mammoth Lakes chefs, delightful dessert offerings from local establishments, live musical entertainment, a silent auction, a raffle, and an-always-entertaining live auction with exclusive Honda experiences only available to Grand Tasting attendees.
Wineries so far include Tatomer, Mastro Scheidt Family Cellars, Mineral Wines, Rombauer Vineyards, Eberle Winery, Peachy Canyon Winery, Collins Vintage Wines, LLC (pouring Barnard Griffin, Champagne Jacquart, and Trentadue Winery), Zaca Mesa Winery Vineyards, Deovlet Wines, Old World Wines, Kieu Hoand Winery, Clesi, and Cholame Vineyard.

Bishop Unified School District understands that the economy has been hard on the families in Inyo County and has secured Federal funding to be able to offer FREE SUMMER LUNCHES to all children through age 18. There are no forms to fill out and the program will provide lunch to children through age 18 with no questions asked. The serving site for this summer is the Bishop High School “Bronco Café”, which is located outside near the entrance to the library.
We will start serving FREE SUMMER LUNCHES Tuesday, June 13, 2017 and continue through Tuesday July 25, 2017 (closed Tuesday July 4th). Lunches will be served at the Bishop High School Bronco Café Monday – Friday from 10:00 am – 10:30 am. Please keep in mind that federal funding guidelines do not allow food to be taken off school grounds and prohibit adults from sharing a free meal with a child. Adults are welcome to join their child for lunch at a cost of $4.00 per adult meal per day.

El almuerzo se servirá en la preparatoria Bronco Café de lunes -a viernes de 10:00 am - 10:30 am. Por favor, tenga en cuenta que la guías de la financiación federal no permite que los alimentos se tomen fuera de la escuela y prohíben a los adultos compartir una comida gratis con un niño. Los adultos pueden venir y comer con su hijo pagando su almuerzo a un costo de $4.00 por comida de adulto por día.
