Inyo County Office of Education: History Day Contest

2018-2019 INYO COUNTY History Day Contest

Inyo County History Day will be held on Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at Jill Kinmont Booth School at 6pm.  The theme for this year’s contest is: Triumph and Tragedy in History

Inyo County Superintendent of Schools sponsors this contest for students in grades 4-12.  The goals of the program are to engage students and teachers in historical research, and also to empower students with research skills, critical thinking skills, and outlets for creative expression, which will enhance their academic abilities in all areas of study.

Students from all school districts in Inyo County are eligible to participate in the competition.  Students can create a poster, website, performance, documentary, exhibit, or write a paper. Each school first holds their own History Day Competition, then a select number of students proceed to Inyo County History Day, California History Day, and potentially, National History Day where students can earn thousands of dollars in prizes, scholarships, and other national academic recognition.

Judges this year are: Mrs. Kathy Zack, Mrs. Mini Doonan, Mrs. Ilissa Twomey and Mrs. Lo Lyness.

The public is encouraged to attend Inyo County History Day.
