Caltrans Reminds Pedestrians and Motorists to Use Good Judgement When Traveling Along U.S. Highway 395
BISHOP — September is Pedestrian Safety Month and the Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is promoting good practices on highways throughout California. Like many roadways in small, rural towns in California, U.S. Highway 395 not only acts as a major thoroughfare for thousands of motorists, but it’s also Main Street in several communities in Inyo and Mono County.
To encourage safety on our roads for both pedestrians and motorists, Caltrans District 9 in Bishop, CA has put together a public service video in cooperation with the Bishop CHP. In it, Public Information Officer Chris Andriessen of Caltrans and Public Information Officer Adam Otten of the CHP highlight the steps pedestrians need to take before they cross the street and remind motorists of their responsibilities for when a highway turns into a local main street. The video also includes information on an upcoming pedestrian safety project Caltrans District 9 has in the works.
