Many of you noticed the amount of service men and women at the park yesterday. This group of soldiers were evacuated due to the fire by Walker, stuck on the side of the road when a bus broke down and stranded in our city until headquarters for the Marine Corps could arrange to get them back home. 52 of them were able to the load a bus at 1:30pm, the others had to wait. We gave them shade, shelter, water and food. This is why we live here, to come together make things like this happen.
Thank you to all of the local businesses and community members that helped the City of Bishop and Chamber of Commerce take care of these 52 service men and women during their time of need. They left rested, well fed and appreciated at 7:30pm last night. They are thankful to the open arms our community provided.
