MAMMOTH LAKES – The Mammoth Museum at the Hayden Cabin is pleased to announce that its 3rd Annual Mammoth Storytelling Festival will take place on September 15, 2018 from noon until 4:00 p.m. Building on the success of previous festivals, this year’s line-up at the museum’s Temple of Folly tent will feature a mix of new and returning storytellers who will present fresh “Tales of the Sierra.”

Those attending might hear an adapted short story by Mark Twain or Mary Austin, a fictional yarn spun by a costumed miner, or a contemporary tale of a harrowing ski school experience. As a special treat, musical interludes will feature Rachbot and the Buffalo - better known to Eastsiders as former Americana band Buster Blue members Bryan Jones and Rachael McElhiney.

Tickets are $10 for adults/$5 for children (under 18) and will be available at the gate. Complimentary sweet treats will be served during the afternoon. The Hayden Cabin is located at 5489 Sherwin Creek Road. Since parking is limited at the Museum, guests are encouraged to enter on foot from the northwest by crossing the bridge over Mammoth Creek from the Town Loop Multi-Use trail at Mammoth Creek Park East.

Statement by Lesley Bruns, Festival Coordinator: “It’s been very rewarding for the Southern Mono Historical Society to grow the tradition of storytelling in our community. Our festival’s unique setting along the banks of Mammoth Creek helps to create a relaxed and engaging afternoon of entertainment. The views of the lofty Sherwin Range are almost as impressive as the tales told by our storytellers.”
