Local Kids Can Get Creative in the Great Outdoors with Crayons & Paint Eastern Sierra Land Trust is hosting a free day of family fun on Saturday, August 4th Bishop-based non-profit Eastern Sierra Land Trust (ESLT) is offering a great opportunity to get outside and explore nature this summer with their second annual Crayons & Paint. On August 4th from 9am-12pm, this exciting event gives families with children ages 5 through 15 the chance to get creative in nature.

During ESLT’s free family event, kids and parents will kick off the morning playing educational games, tracking wildlife and identifying wildflowers. The rest of the morning will be spent engaged in guided art projects out in nature itself while enjoying refreshing snacks in the shade. All participants will go home with an activity book to keep the outdoor fun and learning going all summer long. While attendees get messy during our open-art station, guest artist Lynn Marit Peterson will add inspiration by creating her own live painting. A local to the Bishop area, Lynn specializes in plein air painting. Seeing and learning about the creative process of a professional artist first-hand is a rare and exciting opportunity that guests of all ages will enjoy.

Crayons & Paint will take place at ESLT’s Karen’s Preserve, a 33-acre parcel of land on the Sierra slopes overlooking Crowley Lake. Thanks to community support, this scenic spot was conserved forever in 2008 to protect important habitat for mule deer, birds, and other wildlife, and provides inspiration to budding artists.
Attendance is limited, and anyone interested is encouraged to sign up before Friday, July 27th.
