JAPANESE MEXICAN WWII EXPERIENCES SPECIAL PROGRAM
Learn about the forgotten Japanese of Latin America during World War II in this compelling presentation. Selfa A. Chew will present her research findings of Mexico’s institutional prejudice toward its Japanese residents in the 1940’s. Ms. Chew will challenge traditional notions that the Mexican government protected its Japanese residents and refute the belief that this culture did not experience internment during the war. This is a presentation illuminating another dark chapter in the Western Hemisphere’s bias towards other cultures.
