NIH Auxiliary Holiday Boutique benefits Healthcare District
Northern Inyo Healthcare District’s Birch Street Annex is busily being transformed into something just shy of Santa’s Workshop – all in anticipation of the 2018 Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Holiday Boutique.
This year’s boutique is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For the second year, the boutique will be held at NIHD’s Birch Street Annex, 2957 Birch St., Bishop, near the Jill Kinmont Boothe School in the Manor Market region.
Auxiliary President Judy Fratella said the non-profit volunteer organization worked throughout the year, making various handmade crafts, crocheted afghans, and numerous other gift-able items. As if that was not enough, the group has been busy baking many tasty treats which will also be available for purchase as well.
“We are hoping the people who have supported us in the past will come out to the annex, enjoy some baked goods, and shop with us,” Fratella says. “The money we raise goes toward the purchase of equipment for the hospital, so it’s all for a good cause that benefits the community.”
Guests watching these busy “elves” set up for Saturday marveled at the German table-top Christmas trees, festive with a variety of ornaments; cooed at the sight of an array of hand sewn pillows; and, paused to strategize their Saturday arrival time so they did not miss out on the rustic horseshoe reindeer. If all the holiday and year-round eye candy wasn’t enough, the Auxiliary will also have a variety of See’s Candy on hand.
The Auxiliary will also host a cash drawing as part of the event. Prizes are $1,000, $300 and $200. Tickets for the drawing are $1 each or six for $5.
The purpose of the NIH Auxiliary is to render service to the hospital and its patients through ways approved or proposed by the Governing Board of the Northern Inyo Healthcare District.
Founded in the early 1960s, the Auxiliary has given almost $600,000 toward equipment purchases for the hospital. The Auxiliary raises its funds through its hospital gift shop sales and the Holiday Boutique.
