The Mammoth Museum at the Hayden Cabin is happy to announce its 2nd Annual Mammoth Storytelling Festival on September 23, 2017 from noon until 4:00 p.m. The popularity of storytelling is increasing - with storytelling festivals springing up around the country. Building on the success of last year’s event, this year’s line-up at the museum’s Temple of Folly tent features even more storytellers and new “Tales of the Sierra.”

In today's wired world, it’s refreshing to spend an afternoon outside along the banks of Mammoth Creek listening to live performances of time-honored yarns and fresh stories. Tellers this year include Mono County Supervisor Stacy Corless re-enacting the adventures of Nan Zischank, local author David Woodruff sharing “Tales Along El Camino Sierra” and professional actor James Harnagel playing Mark Twain in an excerpt from “Roughing It.”  With views of the Sherwins and quaking aspen along the creek, The Mammoth Storytelling Festival is a delightful fall treat and perfect for all ages.

Tickets are $10 for adults/$5 for children (under 18) and will be available at the gate. Complimentary sweet treats will be served during the afternoon’s musical interlude. This will be the closing weekend for the Mammoth Museum, so it’s the last chance for visitors to enjoy the current museum exhibits before the Spring 2018 reopening. The Hayden Cabin is located at 5489 Sherwin Creek Road. Parking is limited at the museum, so guests are encouraged to enter on foot from the northwest by crossing the bridge over Mammoth Creek from the Town Loop Multi-Use trail at Mammoth Creek Park East. Come prepared for variable weather.
