Underwear History Event SMALL.jpg

The Friends of the Eastern California Museum Present
A BRIEF HISTORY OF UNDERWEAR

Light fare & beverages will be served. Come join us for an interesting and informative lecture about our most intimate attire . . .underwear!
Starting with the Egyptians and through the millennia, this lecture reveals
fascinating facts about corsetry, drawers (panties and shorts), petticoats, bustles, farthingales and other undergarments men and women have worn throughout western civilization.

The program is presented by Jan Loverin , the Curator of Clothing and Textiles at the Marjorie Russell Clothing and Textile Research Center, Nevada State Museum. She has her M.S. in Home Economics and Museum Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno. Together Jan Loverin and Curator of History, Bob Nylen have published To Clothe Nevada Women 1860-1920 and are co-authors of Comstock Needleworkers in Comstock Women:
The Making of a Mining Community. Jan is a member of the Costume Society of America and the International Council of Museums, Costume Committee and has presented papers for both professional organizations.

So mark your calendars and join us for an afternoon of engaging conversation, sweet and savory appetizers and desserts, and just plain fun.
You won’t want to miss this “revealing” and entertaining event!
